William G. Wendella

April 18, 1960 - November 12, 2015

Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean we’ll miss you until we meet again….William G. Wendella, 55, of Elmira, NY passed away with his family at his side on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Robert Packer Hospital following a brief period of declining health. Willie was born on April 18, 1960 in Van Etten, NY a son of the late William A. and Irene Elizabeth (Savon) Wendela. He was a graduate of Tioga Central High School class of 1978 where he excelled in all school sports. A talented painter and a true handyman, Willie could always be found helping someone in need of plastering, painting or fixing something broken. Willie is survived by his daughter Stephanie Sinsabaugh of Waverly; granddaughter Madison; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Alfred and Patricia Wendela of Rome, Pa; Carl and Julie Wendela of Barton, NY: Earl “Gomer” and Marybeth “Button” Wendela of Rome, Pa; a sister Karen VanNorman of Waverly; half brother Raymond and his wife Mitzi Joki of Ithaca, NY; a brother-in-law: John Adams of Ocala, Fla; special friend Alan Marsh of Lowman; several nieces, nephews and their families also survive. William was predeceased by his parents; his sister Elaine Adams; brother Nick H. Wendela; half brother Martin Joki and brother-in-law Frank VanNorman. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Monday, November 16th from 4 – 6 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols. A funeral service and celebration of his life will follow at 6 pm at the funeral chapel. Following the services a gathering for friends and family will be held at “The Station” Memories and condolences may be shared by visiting our website at www.sutfinfuneralchapel.com Those who wish may kindly consider a memorial contribution to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311 in loving memory of William G. Wendella.
